How does the Data Transfer work?

Data Transfer to the Application

It is important to distinguish between application-specific and analysis-relevant data.

Application-specific data:

In dab Nexus, this type of data, such as the Analytic Tasks created and SAP systems, is stored in an SQL server database which is configured during installation. The log files are stored locally by dab Nexus.

Data relevant to analysis

For technical reasons, dab Nexus temporarily accesses analysis-relevant data. During these temporary points of contact, no intermediate storage of this data takes place on the dab Nexus server. This data is always stored and processed in the SQL server.

Note

In general, the configuration of all security settings and use of the respective protocols is the responsibility of your IT department.

The following standard client protocols from SQL Server are used in dab Nexus:

  • Named Pipes
  • Shared Memory
  • TCP/IP

The choice of protocol depends on the SQL Server instance settings and whether dab Nexus and the SQL Server instance are running on the same server. If Dab Nexus is installed on a separate server, the TCP/IP protocol is usually used. The port used depends on the SQL Server instance configuration; the default port is 1433. The protocol to be used for communication between Dab Nexus and the SQL server can be specified in the configuration.
