Issues After the Deployment

The AI Analyst Backend is not reachable

When the AI Analyst Visual in your Power BI report states: 'Error connecting to backend / loading initial analysis. Please try again.'. Check which one you get before changing anything.

Azure blocks the request (IP allowlist)

Symptom Opening https://<web-app-name>.azurewebsites.net in the browser shows the blue Azure error page "Error 403 - Forbidden – The web app you have attempted to reach has blocked your access".

Cause The IP address you are calling from is not on the allowlist. AI Analyst is only reachable through its virtual network and through the IP ranges configured during the deployment. The request never reaches the application.

Solution Add the clients IP range in the Azure Portal under App Service -> Networking -> Access restrictions, or start the wizard again and add the range on the Networking Security tab.

The application rejects the request (wrong API key)

Symptom The webapp at https://<web-app-name>.azurewebsites.net in the browser is accessible, but API requests are answered with 403.

Cause The request reaches the application, but the AIA API Key sent by the client does not match the one configured during the deployment.

Solution Check the API key in your client (for example the Power BI AI Analyst Visual settings) against the value stored in the Key Vault of the Managed Application. To set a new key, update the secret in the Power BI Dashboard or in Key Vault. When changing the KEy Vault Secret you have to restart the web app.

The log shows Could not parse SQLAlchemy URL

Cause

The database connection string is not in a supported format.

Solution

Enter the connection string in ADO.NET or ODBC format, as described in the Deployment Guide. Note that you have to enter all secret values again when you redeploy.

The log shows Database warm-up failed

Cause

AI Analyst cannot reach the database, or the credentials in the connection string are not valid.

Solution

  1. Verify the user name and password in the connection string, and that the user has SELECT permission on the results schema.
  2. Verify the network path between AI Analyst and your database, as described in the Deployment Guide.

Missing Connection to the dab Knowledge Hub

Cause

The private link connection to the dab Knowledge Hub is still in the state Pending. The connection has to be approved by dab before the Knowledge Hub can be queried.

Solution

Send your subscription ID and the private link request message you entered during the deployment to your dab contact, or to support(at)dab-gmbh.de.

The App Service cannot pull the container image

Cause

The access token for the container registry of dab has expired or was revoked.

Solution

Contact your dab contact, or delivery(at)dab-gmbh.de, to receive a valid token.

How do I retrieve the API key after the deployment?

The API key is stored in the Key Vault created by the deployment. Open the Key Vault in the Azure Portal, select Objects -> Secrets -> aia-api-key, and copy the current version. You need at least the Key Vault Secrets User role, and your IP address must be on the allowlist.
