Analytic Groups

Analytic Groups play a vital role in organizing Analytic Tasks and their executions within dab Nexus. They enable the creation of custom groupings of analyses, making it easier to manage and access them efficiently. This flexibility allows you to tailor analytical processes to meet the unique needs and goals of your organization. An Analytic Group, along with its associated analyses, is a prerequisite for creating analytic tasks within the Workspaces area of dab Nexus. This setup ensures that all necessary analyses are available and ready for execution. Additionally, Analytic Groups make it easy to share analysis packages with other users, enabling seamless collaboration on data-driven projects.

Overview

In the overview you see all existing Analytic Groups. You can also search for a specific Analytic Group or adjust the columns shown in the overview.

Creation

You can create an Analytic Group by clicking on Content Studio > Analytic Groups and on + Analytic Group. Enter a name for the new Analytic Group.

Analytic Steps

On the left side you'll see all Analytic Steps that are licensed. You can choose the analyses you want to include in your Analytic Group - you can add as many as you need, but at least one.

Hint

Hold Shift on your keyboard and left-click on a desired checkbox to select or unselect all analytic steps of a module.

If the Analytic Steps contain parameters, you can set default values for them. This is especially helpful if the parameter isn't often set or is (nearly) always the same. Of course, these default values can be changed during the Task Creation if needed.

Result Tables

Go to the tab Result Tables. Here you can see and adjust the Result Tables that are saved after a run has been completed. If necessary, you can change the selected columns per Result Table, put filters in place and set Allow- & Deny-Lists.

Filter

Note

If you apply multiple filters to a Result Table will they be combined with an AND.

With filters you can restrict results. You can set filters on one or more fields with individual values. Click on Add Filter to create a filter with an Operator and a Value. Then you can set this filter on a field of the Result Table.

You can choose between the following operators:

OperatorDescriptionExample
=Equal: both values are equal100 = 100
<>Not Equal: both values are not equal100 <> 99
<Less than: one value is less than the other99 < 100
>Greater than: one value is greater than the other100 > 99
<=Less equal: one value is less than or equal to the other99/100 <= 100
>=Greater equal: one value is greather than or equal to the other100 >= 99/100
LikeOne value contains parts of the other value, also requires the % sign%est is contained in Test

Allow- & Deny-Lists

With Allow- & Deny-Lists, for example, you can allow or deny certain values. This means that these either remain in the Result Table or are sorted out. This can be useful for allowing or denying specific values, texts, countries, etc. Click on Add List in the middle to add an existing Allow- & Deny-List to the Result Table.

If you don't have any Allow- & Deny-Lists yet, find all information about how to create them in this article.

Select Allow or Deny in the first dropdown menu, depending on whether you want to permit or prohibit these values in the Result Table. Then select the field and the list, you want to use.

Columns

By default, all fields of a table will be saved in the corresponding Result Table. To change this, you can unselect specific fields. With this, you can define which fields should ulimately be output and saved. Select or unselect fields with drag & drop.

User Exits

Go to the tab User Exits. Here you can set specifically created User Exits to Analytic Steps. Select an Analytic Step on the left and then an User Exit in the middle. The User Exit first must be created (find all information about it in this article). If you can't select an User Exit, it has no variants or contents.

Options

Go to the tab Options. Here you can set a description for the Analytic Group, you can create an Extraction Package based on this Analyic Group or use an existing one.

In the sections Teams and Users you can authorize specific teams or users.

Note

If you don't select any Teams or Users, all Users of dab Nexus will have access to this Analytic Group. I you set a Team or Users, only these Users of dab Nexus will have access to this Analytic Group.

Save and Create

After you've set all options, filters, etc. you can save and create (if it doesn't already exist) this Analytic Group.

Edit

Note

You will get a warning message when you try to change an Analytic Group, that is already being used by active (scheduled) Tasks. Please keep in mind, that any changes will affect these active Tasks and may result in failed Runs.

You can edit an existing Analytic Group by clicking on it's name in the overview.

Deletion

Important

If you delete an Analytic Group that is used in an active (scheduled) Task, this Task will be deactivated and cannot be reactivated again. This deletion cannot be undone.
