Add Fabric Connections

Important:
Before creating one of the following connections, please note the following:
1. These types of connections must be licensed separately
2. All requirements must be met – the information you need can be found here

Fabric Mirrored Database

  • Click on Settings > Connections and on + Connection: choose Fabric Mirrored Database
  • Name: name the new connection
  • Tenant ID: enter the Tenant ID from Azure
  • Client ID - depends on the Authentication Type:
    • Basic Authentication: Client ID from your App Registration
    • Service Principal: Client ID (called Application ID in Azure) from the Enterprise Application
    • User Assigned Managed Identity: Client ID from the added User Assigned Manged Identity
    • System Assigned Managed Identity: no Client ID necessary!
  • Authentication Type:
    • Basic Authentication: enter Username and Password (MFA must be deactivated for this user)
    • Service Principal: enter the Service Principal Key
    • User Assigned Managed Identity & System Assigned Managed Identity: must be created in Azure
  • Login with Microsoft:
    • Request API Consent (Service User only): click the Request API Consent button, then approve the required authorisations
    • If the connection is successful, the two buttons will be replaced by Reset Authentication
  • Fabric Workspace: the assigned workspace(s) should be listed here > select one of the workspaces
  • Fabric Mirror: the Fabric Mirror Databases contained in the selected workspace should be listed here > select a Fabric Mirror
  • Create & Close: the connection is saved and the screen is closed. You will automatically return to the overview table with all the connections already created.
  • Test Connection: in the status you can see whether the connection could be established. Click on the three dots in the corresponding line on the right side and click on Test Connection to test the connection (again).

Fabric Lakehouse

  • Click on Settings > Connections and on + Connection: choose Fabric Lakehouse
  • Name: name the new connection
  • Tenant ID: enter the Tenant ID from Azure
  • Client ID - depends on the Authentication Type:
    • Basic Authentication: Client ID from your App Registration
    • Service Principal: Client ID (called Application ID in Azure) from the Enterprise Application
    • User Assigned Managed Identity: Client ID from the added User Assigned Manged Identity
    • System Assigned Managed Identity: no Client ID necessary!
  • Authentication Type:
    • Basic Authentication: enter Username and Password (MFA must be deactivated for this user)
