SAP Network Connections & SNC

Updated 1 year ago by Marco Kretschmann

Required Ports

The dab SAP-Extraction Solutions establish a connection to your SAP-system via TCP/IP using the RFC protocol. Depending on the scenario, this may require the corresponding ports to be activated.

Note
If you are using a Message Server with Load Balancing, it may be necessary to activate the Ports for the underlying application server in addition to the actual message server.

Application

Port range

Application Server

33xx, where xx stands for the instance number, e.g. instance number 01 then has port 3301

Message Server

3600 - 3699, ask your IT or SAP Basis for the exact port

SNC

4800 - 4899, ask your IT or SAP Basis for the exact port

SAProuter

3299, unless otherwise specified

services-Entry for Message Server

If you want to establish a connection with a message server, make sure that an entry with sapmsXXX is stored accordingly in the file under %WINDIR%\System32\drivers\etc\services, where XXX stands for the system ID of your SAP system.

SNC-Support

The dab SAP-Extraction Solutions support securing and authenticating the connection using SNC via RFC. As there are many different SNC solutions, we cannot provide you with generally applicable instructions, but make sure that the following points are ensured:

  • The SAP-user must be assigned to the corresponding SNC name in transaction SU01
  • The SNC-Solution must be installed and configured on the same system as the SAP-Extraction Solution
  • Make sure that the Bitness of the Libraries matches: if you have installed 32-Bit RFC-Libraries, also make sure that the SNC-Libraries are 32-Bit; of course the same applies to the 64-Bit

In our experience, the following SNC solutions are compatible in any case:
