We have completely overhauled our licence management system.

You now have the option to download and activate licences for your purchased products yourself. The process is different for each product, but we will show you how it works below.

dab Nexus - on Premises

There are two ways to activate and update the dab Nexus licence for our on-premises solution:

Online-Licensing - from version 1.17
  • Click on Settings > License & Support
  • Choose Upgrade License
  • Click Online Activation > You will then be redirected to the Portal, where you can log in
  • Choose the corresponding license
  • The licence has been updated and is active again
Offline-Licensing - backward compatible (no update required)
  • Log in on the Portal
    • search for your license and click on it
    • click on Download License in the top-right corner
    • if necessary, specify the domain and user (if not already set): this applies to the user for whom the licence is to be issued
  • Click on Settings in dab Nexus > License & Support
  • Choose Upgrade License
  • Click Choose license file and Activate
  • Select your license file and click Open
  • Click Change License
  • The licence has been updated and is active again
Changes to the licence > License Activation Pending

If the licence is changed, the status of your licence in dab Nexus may suddenly change to Licence Activation Pending. If this happens, perform online- or offline-licensing as described above.


dab Nexus - Managed App

Important
You need the ResourceID to activate the licence!

Find the ResourceID:

  • Log in on the Azure Portal
  • Open the Managed Resource Group of your dab Nexus Managed App
  • Open the App Service
  • On the left side choose Settings > Environment variables
  • DABNEXUS_AzureManagedApplication_ResourceId > Show value
  • Copy this value
Online-Licensing

It works exactly the same as with dab Nexus (see the previous section for more information).

Offline-Licensing

It works exactly the same as with dab Nexus (see the previous section for more information).


dab AnalyticSuite

Important
In order to perform offline and online activation, an update of the Configurator to version 5.3.0.748 is necessary. However, a content update is not necessary.

First of all, access the dab AnalyticSuite Configurator.

After you have logged in, navigate to the Licensing page through the Settings on the left side.

Hint
To enter a new license key, klick on Change serial.

Click on Upgrade license to start the activation. The status of the license changes from Valid to ValidUpgradePending.

Online-Licensing

You can activate your licence online by clicking the Activate licence online button. This will retrieve the licence data from our server and activate the licence. A message confirming that the activation was successful will then appear.

Offline-Licensing

If a connection to the DAB Licensing server cannot be established, online activation cannot be performed.

In this case, you can activate it by exchanging a licence file.

Click on Download licence file and send the licence_request.xml file by email to support@dab-gmbh.de.

Our Support Team will activate your licence and email you the licence file, licence_ready.dabkey. Import this file by clicking Import licence file.

You will then be able to view the current details of your licence in the licence overview. The licence status is now Valid.

In the future, dab Link licences will be issued via our Portal. As a Company Admin, you will be able to manage licences and assign them to users via the Portal. These users will need their own Portal account. This is necessary so that they can activate their dab Link licence. From this point onwards, Delivery will no longer issue individual licences.

Requirements
  • Company Admin:
    • Access to the Portal
    • can manage the licenses and assign them to users
  • User:
    • Access to the Portal
    • can activate the license assigned to him for dab Link
    Activate license
  • start dab Link
  • Licence status missing:
    • The user logs into the dab Link application with their Portal details (username and password)
    • The user has been assigned a licence by the Company Admin > the licence is activated automatically
    • The user has not yet been assigned a licence by the Company Admin > they will be informed that no licence has been found and that they should contact the Company Admin of their organisation (Company Admin in the portal).
  • Storing the licence information:
    • Licence information is stored locally to avoid online verification each time dab Link is launched, thereby enabling offline use
    • The following information about the licence is stored:
      • Status: activ / inactiv
      • Expiration date
      • Time of last online check
      • Digital signatures ensure that files cannot be manipulated
  • Further information:
    • Maximum offline period is 7 days
    • The licence is always checked when the software is started > if more than seven days have passed since the last online check, dab Link will attempt to connect to the portal to verify the licence again
    • If it is not possible to connect to the portal, the product will be deactivated > the user will then need to re-enter their portal details to reactivate it
